Amerikan Primitive - The Pizz
Comic book by the Pizz from 88. Of the whole crop of lowbrow artists, I think the Pizz is one of the most talented and most underrated. He does beautiful line work, puts a lot of humor in his stuff, and also has some amazing color techniques in his paintings - regular canvas works look like they have that irridescent black velvet finish. On the inside cover of this comic, lowbrow patron saint Robert Williams says, "Pizz was familiar to me even when I first met him. With the appearance of 'Dr. Beatnik De-Be-Bop,' Pizz backed up his look with a drawing style that you could light a cigarette off of, 'HOT'!"
