Happy Hollow Auction
June 7, 2008

Right inside the entrance on auction day, they had tables with items for the silent auction.
These trash can covers went for around $100 on average.

There were 5 of these "Frontier Village 99 Train Ride Car" vehicles in the live auction.
This one went for $1100, and the rest were in the range of $900-$1450.

This went for $900.

There were also several "Frontier Village Antique Cars".
There were two kinds, Ford Model T's and Maxwell's.
These were purchased from Frontier Village but then never used at Happy Hollow.
Here's more info about Frontier Village.

We found out later that this Maxwell car was special, being the specific one
that appeared on an original Frontier Village postcard.
That postcard might be the second image down on this page.
See the pics below of the guy who won this.

Some closeups of other cars.

Nina on the snail climber. We tried for this one, but it went too high at $1200.
The people who won it seemed like they were ready to keep bidding up and up.

We can still have some fun on the pieces while they're here!

Some of these carousel horses seemed more popular than others.
Their prices in the live auction later were #52 - $750, #9 - $2000, #51 - $950

This lion drinking fountain went for $1900 in the live auction.
One of the pictures below shows the family who won this.

The hippo drinking fountain went for $750 in the live auction.
It was only the second item, so it maybe went for less than later items.

Starting the live auction. Naomi's on the left with the red backpack.

First auction item - the Happy Hollow sign.

The two guys with glasses on their heads won the entire
"King Neptune's Carousel Ride with 20 Sea Creatures and Benches" for $12,000.

This is the person who won the yellow Maxwell car from Frontier Village.
He was so happy when he won, it was a nice highlight.
Someone mentioned his name is Shaughnessy McGehee, who is
listed on the "Remembering Frontier Village" website as the "RFV Evangelist."

This group seemed to be connected with Frontier Village, beyond just that one car.

She's the one who won the lion drinking fountain pictured earlier.
Also the person who was bidding against her is in the background (sitting, pink dress).

She bid on a number of things including the carousel, but only won a couple.
